Barletta

Barletta hosts the mouth of the Ofanto river and includes the fraction of Canne della Battaglia remembered for the historic victory of Hannibal. The territory of the city of Barletta is rich in olive groves and vineyards. To visit:

• Palazzo della Marra of Baroque architecture where the Pinacoteca De Nittis is located
• the castle
• the Cantina della Disfida where according to tradition a verbal clash occurred between the French Charles de La Motte and the Spanish captain Diego de Mendoza which led to the battle between the French and Italians, allies of the Spaniards, known as the Challenge of Barletta
• the Colossus, a giant bronze statue, located in Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
